Popsicle sticks...

Almost every evening we do "Family Worship" with our kids. Most of the time it is after dinner, and we make our best attempts to sing some songs with Brad on the guitar. We also do a short lesson...usually with memory work. Currently we are learning the Westminster Creed, with hand motions and some catchy tunes and using the book Training Hearts Teaching Minds, by Starr Meade.

Last night we were memorizing "we believe that God has forordained whatever comes to pass" and when it was Levi's turn to repeat it, this was his response...

"we believe God has four more dames whatever comes to pass"...always a teaching moment!:)

So why the popsicle sticks you ask?
These are our "prayer sticks". We write the names of our family and friends on them and each night when we end our time of worship, each family member gets to pick a stick and then pray for that person. I can't remember where I got the idea, but the kids have fun with it (aside from the occasional fight that occurs because one sibling wants the other siblings stick) and it is easy to do. Our hope is that it also instills a love for praying for others!

I love it! Levi is too funny! Your prayers have encouraged us since we have been here and I am sure they do the same for others! Keep up the good job on ministering to the most important people in your life! What an amazing example you are!

What a neat way to teach the kids how to pray for others...I think we will use that!

Thanks for being such a family after God! What a continual encouragement you are to us! I am completely stealing your popsicle stick idea. I think we'll wait to work on the catechism until Ameila stops screaming through dinner. (LOVED Levi's interpretation, though!)
